Q&A & Microphones

  • $100 PA fee covers sound system, mics, and chairs, not per mic.
  • Must be booked with rental. No Q&A without office approval.
  • Mic count subject to availability & auditorium size.
  • Holding the film’s start cuts into Q&A time.
  • One still image on screen pre or post (not both), emailed 3 days prior. JPG 1920×1080.

Marquee

  • Fee: $90. Royal only.
  • Adds your title to one side, doesn’t replace the marquee.
  • Must be booked with rental + office approval.

Newhall only. Rooftop deck, weather permitting.

Concessions

$5.00/person: refillable popcorn & fountain drink. Theatre issues vouchers for guests to redeem at the stand. Must be booked with rental.

Outside food & beverage: permitted for an additional fee. Inquire with the office in advance.

HDMI

We only provide a self-service HDMI port for you to use your laptop for short clips or presentations. Not for full feature films.

Step & Repeat

Weather permitting, at participating locations outside on the sidewalk for an additional fee.

Content & Technical Specs

Formats We Accept

  • DCP: Specs below. We do not provide tech support.
  • Blu-Ray: Only for single screenings. Format to play on standard Blu-ray player. Laemmle will not be held responsible for a disc that does not play even if the disc was inspected and tested on site.
  • Projectors are 2K. They support 4K but play at 2K.

Delivery Methods We Accept

Laemmle is NOT responsible for late delivery resulting in cancellation of screening.

  • Physical Drive/Disc: Send directly to the theatre address for delivery after 1PM. Content MUST be delivered at least 3 days prior to screening date.
  • We do NOT download DCPs or stream any content. You must deliver your DCP on a physical hard drive.

DCP Specs

  • FPS: 24 frames per second ONLY.
  • Ratio: FLAT (1998 × 1080 pixels) or SCOPE (2048 × 858 pixels).
  • Naming: CPL’s properly identified as feature, short, or trailer. CPL’s properly named according to the standards set forth by the ISDCF. No zip files.
  • Drive: Must be on a CRU or USB drive formatted EXT2/3 or NTFS. If the drive requires external power, a standard US plug must be provided.
  • Provider of DCP is responsible for DCP playing back correctly on our systems.
  • We recommend the DCP is created by a professional that will provide quality control testing.

QC Testing

  • Theatre tests all content for sound, picture, subtitles (if applicable), and playability.
  • A one-time, in-person, 5-10 minute test of content can be arranged.
  • Any additional testing or full run-throughs require further booking and fees.

DCP Creation & Delivery

KDM Creation

  • If you are creating KDMs for your title, server serial numbers can be sent upon request. Often KDM creators are able to just use the serial numbers to create the keys.
  • If you want certs you must get them from GDC. E-mail directly to cert@gdc-tech.com.

Payment & Rental Agreement

Payment

  • A non-refundable deposit secures your date.
  • Full payment is due 14 days prior to your screening/opening date.
  • We accept all major credit cards and checks. Invoice and credit card link sent via email.
  • Checks payable to Laemmle Theatres and mailed to 11523 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025.
  • Cancellations: 14 days advance, no fees. Within 14 days, fees applied.

Rental Agreement

  • By booking you agree to follow the instructions in this document.
  • On-site contact communicates all details to theatre manager and your team.
  • Showtimes set during booking process.
After Booking

Rental agreement & invoice sent via email. Theatre is your primary contact. Manager in touch 1 week prior.

FAQs

1How much does it cost? Are rates hourly?›
Each rate is a flat fee for the time slot, not hourly and not per person.
2When and how do I pay?›
A non-refundable deposit holds your date. The balance is due 14 days before your screening. We email an invoice and a credit-card link (cards or check accepted).
3How do I get my film to the theatre?›
DCP is required (we don’t create DCPs, vendors listed below). Blu-ray accepted for single screenings only. Deliver on a physical drive or disc at least 3 days prior. A free 5-10 minute in-person test can be arranged. We don’t download or stream.
4Q&A and microphones?›
A single $100 PA fee covers the sound system, mics, and chairs for a Q&A, not per mic. Must be booked with the rental.
5Public vs private, what’s the difference?›
Public: we sell tickets (you keep 100% of box office minus a $1.50/ticket service fee), or you sell elsewhere and we link it. Public ticket links go live once the rental is paid in full. Private: no ticket sales. You check guests in at a table we provide.
6How many seats? Do I pay per seat?›
Seat counts vary by auditorium (see the rate sheet above). You rent the whole auditorium at a flat rate regardless of headcount.
7When can I get in to set up?›
The theatre manager contacts you about a week before to arrange setup time, doors, and the day-of timeline.
8Concessions & outside food?›
$5/person gets refillable popcorn + fountain drink (voucher). Want to bring outside food or beverage? Inquire with the office.
9Marquee & posters?›
Marquee is $90, Royal only (adds your title to one side). Posters: email a JPG (1080×1600, under 2MB).
10Can I show a film that you aren’t playing?›
Maybe, please inquire within. Additional fees may apply.
